Not only have original wood floors been revealed all across the US of A as wall to wall has carpet has been pulled out but the newer engineered flooring are deemed great environmentally. The top wear layer of  whatever species of wood chosen is laminated onto lesser woods to provide a better structural product. That means less slow growing trees needed, more secondary use of wood from manufacturing.
